Chapter 17: Technical enablers for the IoT
Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of technical enablers for the Internet of Things. It describes the contribution from various fields on the IoT: from pervasive computing, embedded systems, data analytics and machine learning, cloud computing and cyber-physical systems. It reviews the development of communication technologies that have been developed for IoT and the corresponding activities in the Internet Engineering Task Force. It concludes with an overview of the activities of the Industrial Internet of Things.
