Digital voice ports, unlike analog voice ports, have the unique capability to carry multiple simultaneous conversations on the same circuit. Therefore, in installations with multiple circuits (about seven or more), the economies of scale offered by digital voice ports start to make digital voce ports more economically attractive that multiple analog ports.
