access control list (ACL) An ACL is a set of rules applied to a router that dictate what traffic is allowed or not allowed to enter or exit an interface.
accounting The accounting service can collect and store information about a user login. This information can be used, for example, to keep an audit trail of what was performed on a network.
Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) A network device that knows the IP address of a destination can send out an ARP request in an attempt to dynamically learn the MAC address of the destination device (or the MAC address of the next-hop gateway used to reach that device).
