Over the past 20 years, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Dean Miles, one of the best sound guys in the business. It’s been, and still is, a great partnership. Over the years, Dean taught me about sound, and I taught him about camera work. The typical production scenario was that camera and sound were almost adversaries—battling each other to protect their self-interests. We wanted something different. We came to understand each other’s challenges and learned to work as a team. Together we created solutions to solve just about any situation that was thrown at us.
