We have in Britain, and perhaps in Europe also, become totally enamoured of the idea that whatever the future of television in an economic or organisational sense, and therefore in terms of programming, cable television and satellite television will be an important part of the final mix. One cannot hold a conversation now about the future of broadcasting without it quickly becoming a conversation about the future of cable and satellite.
