The Broadcasting System
The federal structure of the broadcasting system in the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) reflects the regional organisation of post-war broadcasting. Political forces in Germany and the Western allies had wished to prevent the broadcasting system from falling under the influence of the federal government. The intention was that neither the federal government nor the federal postal service (Deutsche Bundespost) nor, indeed, private business should dominate or even influence broadcasting.
