When Darwin introduced the theory of evolution, a deep change occurred not only in science, but also in many unanticipated areas including Western ethical theory. Similarly, the development of computer science, along with other emerging and converging technologies, especially robotics and artificial intelligence (AI), is causing a profound change to ethical theories as well as to the critical decision-making process necessary to define the ethics and morals of killer robots, in the case of autonomous drones, missiles, and the more ubiquitous autonomous cars.
