Basic Tools for Process Design
Modeling business processes with the goal of creating effective designs requires more than word processors and spreadsheets. Electronic spreadsheets are useful for mathematical models, but they are less practical in the context of modeling business processes. The tools that are introduced in this chapter help designers check for feasibility, completeness, and effectiveness of a proposed design. These tools facilitate a better understanding of the processes under consideration and the design issues associated with them. The tools are associated with specific design principles, as shown in Table 4.1.
