5. Signing the Assembly

In order to be used by Visual Studio in SSIS projects, an SSIS custom task assembly must be signed. The .Net Framework includes tools for creating and managing “key” files which are used for signing assemblies.

Preparing to Add a Key

I recommend opening a command window as an Administrator to begin. Open the Windows Start menu and locate Command Prompt. Right-click Command Prompt, hover over “More,” and then click “Run as Administrator” as shown in Figure 5-1:
