6. Hacking What You Have
You’ve now explored all the parts in the box and looked at all the types of robot builds provided in the official LEGO EV3 instructions. It’s time to build your own bot. The first bot I recommend trying to build is a car or tank. It is the most common build, and all you need to get started is the Intelligent Brick and two motors. Leave room to attach a light sensor. You’ll need that for your first programming lesson, which will start in Chapter 7, “Make Your First EV3 Program.”

Theoretically, you could make a robot with only one motor, but steering it would be difficult. With only one motor, the robot would have to have the wheels chained together to go only forward or backward or use only one wheel and travel entirely ...
