THE PROJECTS IN THE FIRST PART OF THIS BOOK involved basic illumination and flashing of LEDs. The project presented in this chapter is the first in a series of projects that incorporate a sequencer circuit. That is, these projects contain several LEDs that illuminate in sequence, either one or more at a time. These sequencer circuits could also be called “cascade” or “chaser” circuits, because sometimes the visual effect created appears as though the string of lights cascades or the individual lights chase each other in a loop.
