About the Author

John Butman is a craftsperson of ideas and a worker in what he calls the ideaplex—“the wild, rich flow of real ideas” born not only of traditional and social media but of all the disparate activities, channels, structures, and venues involved in the creation, distribution, and consumption of idea-driven content. Trained in filmmaking at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and the author of five books and many articles (his first published piece was a poem in The Nation magazine), John now works with content experts around the world, helping them develop and go public with their ideas in a variety of forms, from social media and apps to print books and videos.
