Talking bold and owning your story: With Lorna Jane Clarkson
Alongside both mine and Ella’s story, I wanted to discover what drives some of Australia’s most audacious women to live a bold life: what makes them tick and what drives them to do what they do every day.
We all know the term ‘active wear’. It describes the global phenomenon of fashionable workout wear that transcends the gym and yoga studios into everyday life — but did you know that an Aussie invented it?
Frustrated by the dull, ill-fitting and uninspiring range of gym wear available for women, Lorna Jane Clarkson took matters into her own hands. She started sewing outfits while working as a gym instructor in 1989 with the desire of celebrating women’s bodies and encouraging active living as a positive lifestyle choice, rather than being focussed on weight loss. Her designs quickly gained a following. Today, the Lorna Jane brand stands for so much more than active wear and Lorna now shares her personal practice of ‘Move. Nourish. Believe.’ This is what she had to say about her journey.

It took 25 years for me to convince women to start wearing Activewear in their everyday lives — and I really believe that it’s my passion to inspire women, focus and bold moves that made it happen.
