The overriding purpose of this chapter is to lend a voice to alternative medicine and its role in the delivery of effective health care in America. By all accounts we have a health system in crisis that continues to operate using obsolete management models that are not sustainable. To avert the potential collapse of the system, we need leaders who are game changers and have the ability to implement transformational ideas. Another leadership quality important for success is the ability to affect human motivation and performance while also managing huge capital resources and navigating bureaucratic obstacles.
