So how do we create a mask?

To create a mask in Blender, you will have to use a window called UV/Image Editor:

  1. From anywhere in Blender, you can change the window type to UV/ Image Editor. If you are using the Video Editing workspace, use the space in the upper-left corner of your interface.
  2. Once you have the UV/Image Editor window, you must change the mode to Mask and add a new mask object using the New button (Figure 3.11):
