Preface to the third edition
I was delighted to be asked to update the Dictionary of Image Technology which, since its first publication ten years ago, has become a standard reference book for the film and video industries.
Minimal change has been made to the style of the book, which remains as a memorial to Bernard Happé, and it is a tribute to him that the content has remained remarkably up-to-date in spite of the many changes which this industry has seen in the last five years.
I am grateful to John Croft, Richard Ellis, John Iles, Peter Owen and Arthur Piggott for their contributions and advice in the preparation of this edition.
