2. Google Trends show that the relative search interest in the term disruption has been on a continuous rise. It has quadrupled over the last score, indicating the increasing popularity for the term. The term was popularized to no small extent by Clayton Christensen’s influential work on disruptive technology and innovation. See his seminal work, The Innovator’s Dilemma: When New Technologies Cause Great Firms to Fail (Boston: Harvard Business School Press, 1997).
