Language and country codes play many vital roles on the Internet:
Language tags. Language and country codes are used in HTML documents in the LANG tag to identify the content language.
ccTLDs. Country codes are used in country code top-level domains (ccTLDs), as explained in Chapter 14, “Mastering Your (Country) Domain.”
Content negotiation. Language and country codes are used in the HTTP protocol to enable content negotiation between servers and browsers, as explained in Chapter 11, “World Wide Design.”
Organization. Language and country codes are used by web developers to efficiently organize and manage web content.
