Why Bernanke? I’ve always thought I had “a book in me”; that is, that I could bring serious economics to a broad audience. Writing about the new Fed chairman seemed natural. “Fed watching” is arguably the most important part of my job as Chief U.S. Economist at Lehman Brothers. It is a topic of great interest to investors and anyone concerned about the U.S. economic outlook. Besides, there is no competition: there are lots of books on Alan Greenspan, but no books on Bernanke.
