The digital age of filmmaking has, to some degree, democratized cinematography. The level to which aspiring filmmakers have access to high-quality, low-cost cameras and workflows has spawned a revolution in storytelling. The overwhelming new supply of content is evolving new mechanisms for fitting that content to the proper demographic demand. New social media mechanisms are now evolving to sort the diamonds from the lumps of coal. Accordingly, the number of people calling themselves cinematographers has increased by an order of magnitude.
