Author Biography
Jay Holben spent more than a decade working as a director of photography. As a technical journalist, Holben has been a lead contributing writer for American Cinematographer magazine for nearly two decades. For seven years, he served as technical editor for Digital Video magazine, he is the current lighting columnist for TV Technology magazine, and has been a contributor to Videography and The Hollywood Reporter.
As the author of the highly-lauded independent lighting manual: A Shot in the Dark: A Creative DIY Guide to Digital Video Lighting on (Almost) No Budget, Holben was been able to bring his on-set experiences to new filmmakers.
