The avalanche of nutrition advice available from the media and the Internet can be overwhelming. My goal for this chapter is to deliver the facts to you as they are currently understood — without gimmicks or special “diets” — and give you a system for designing a sensible, sustainable, low-sugar eating plan that works for you from this day forward.

This chapter talks about the basic macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, and fat) that you need to build your nutritional foundation, as well as the importance of water. I also discuss calories and portion control and deliver an important explanation of why a calorie is not just a calorie.

Another topic of discussion is nutrition supplements for improving overall health and for reducing sugar cravings, too!
