The floor plan

This is used by set designers and constructors to make sure they’re building the set you want and putting it in the right place. For many regular programmes you may never see the floor plan, particularly if you are using a permanent set.

Corrections are cheap – for now

The whole point of plans is to catch problems before it’s too late. It is important that you go through the various shots you intend to use, and see if they will work (size, background etc.).

If you need something to change it is easier for a designer to come up with alternatives at this stage. Waiting until the set is in the studio makes alterations expensive and time-consuming.
