Studio lenses
Prime lenses (fixed focal length) are rare in television (apart from special situations, e.g. hidden cameras), although they are still common in film.
Typical zoom lenses
Lightweight studio cameras with 2/3 inch CCDs will typically be fitted with something like a 14 × 8.5 f1.7 zoom lens, with a minimum focus distance of 0.8m. Large studio cameras will typically have a 55 × 9 zoom lens.
What this means is: the lightweight camera has a 14:1 zoom ratio. Its widest angle is 8.5 mm, equivalent to 54.4° horizontal angle of view, and tightest shot (14 × 8.5 mm) is 119 mm, or 4.14° horizontal angle of view. The widest the aperture can open to is f 1.7 (on the wide end of its range).
