Amazon provides access to an amazing array of free software to use with your Amazon Web Services (AWS) setup. In fact, according to its site (https://aws.amazon.com/free/), Amazon offers access to about 700 pieces of software, a minimum of 300 of which are infrastructure applications. You use infrastructure software to support requirements such as workforce support, business transactions, and internal services and processes. This chapter reviews just three of the many offerings to give you a better idea of what you can find.
As with everything else in AWS, you need to define the word free. In this case, you get to use the infrastructure software free during the 12-month free period of your AWS trial.
