When you build a new WPF application, you may need to draw custom shapes or import existing art that will make up the final UI of your application. Expression Blend is the graphic software for XAML UI applications such as WPF, Silverlight, or Windows Phone 7; for this reason, it makes it easier for you to design XAML elements in those applications.
You should keep in mind that Blend is not for vector graphic images, so if you have to create complex graphic images using vector graphics, you may consider using software such as Adobe Illustrator or Expression Design.
