PROJECT 3 BIRD

I love birds; they are delicate, lovely, and mysterious creatures. As a kid, I liked making little birdhouses in my parents’ garden and watching the chickadees and robins nest. I even joined an ornithological club in junior high. We used to wake up at dawn and spend hours watching and drawing migratory birds nesting for the summer or on their way to Africa for wintertime. Because I love birds so much, they’ve become a recurrent motif in my paintings. I live in a city now, so when I tire of painting gray pigeons, I paint other species from my imagination or with the help of a bird guide.

You’d be surprised how easy painting a bird can be. From one simple shape, we can create a joyful bird. Here’s how.
