Chapter 7Applying for Consent
Once the architect has researched the significance of the building and prepared the design proposal they will need to make an application that is appropriate to the type of historic structure. Normally on listed buildings the architect will need to apply for listed building consent for most works, but they may also need to obtain a planning permission as well. If in doubt they should consult the local planning authority or seek advice from a planning consultant.
