Cybernetics and the Supply Chain

The supply chain is, at best, a complex set of inter-relationships between a variety of organisations, namely commercial enterprises which exist to serve the market. These organisations supply either products or services, and in some cases both. The processes involved convert raw materials to finished products which are ultimately sold to individuals or other companies. In the case of individuals, these are the consumers of the products for their own benefit, such as food, household appliances, or even cars. In the case of companies, these may be retail businesses or even end-users, which use the products concerned for use in specific sectors such as the offshore oil and gas sector, the transport sector, ...
