Decimals are what we call our way of representing fractions in our base ten, or decimal system. Their “full name” is decimal fractions. We want to be able to write fractions in a decimal form so that they fit more comfortably into the system of arithmetic we're accustomed to. Much of what you need to know about arithmetic with decimals won't sound new, so let's get started.
