What Are Access Projects?
Access 2000 introduced Access Projects (ADP). Whereas an Access database uses the Jet Engine and Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) to access client/server data, ADPs use OLE DB to access client/server data. This provides you with greatly enhanced functionality and performance when dealing with client/server data. The only caveat is that the client/server data must be stored in a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database, a Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 database, the Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) file format, or a Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 database with Service Pack 5 installed.
