Foreword
You might well ask why this book has a foreword from someone based in (Old) South Wales working in a higher education institute in Ireland. Well, the answer, to misquote slightly, is that it boldly goes where no book has gone before. I have been working in the improvement arena now for over 30 years and, like Brad, was heavily influenced by TQM (total quality management) and JIT (just-in-time) before spending many years running the Lean Enterprise Research Centre (LERC) at Cardiff University.
