Abstract
This chapter promotes the use of textile composites in automotive applications, according to recent European Union directives. The focus is on textile composite structures to highlight their interesting properties, such as weight reduction and impact resistance. Modification of the manufacturing process to provide a 3D shape of a textile preform for a composite used in the automotive industry, with low cost, high speed and low energy consumption, is discussed.
