SQL (Structured Query Language) is the programming language for the definition, query, and manipulation of very large data sets in relational databases. Worldwide. SQL is a quasi-industry standard. In June 2010, a web search for the term “SQL” with Google resulted in 135 million hits. In February 2021, the same Google search found 307 million hits. SQL has been a standard at ANSI (American National Standards Institute) since 1986 and at ISO since 1987.
