Razali Ismail received his BSc and MSc in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Nottingham, Nottingham, UK in 1980 and 1983, respectively, and his PhD from Cambridge University, Cambridge, UK, in 1989.
In 1984, he joined the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, as a lecturer in electrical and electronic engineering. He has held various faculty positions including department head and chief editor of the university journal.
