Using Shape Data and Data Graphics

As in previous versions of Visio, you can store data in shapes. Known as Custom Properties in earlier versions, this functionality is now referred to as Shape Data. You can create Shape Data directly in Visio or generate it automatically from a variety of sources. Additionally, you can now add Data Graphics to display this data directly on shapes.

As mentioned earlier, the dynamic content in a PivotDiagram is created as Data Graphics. To edit a Data Graphic that appears in your PivotDiagram, on the PivotDiagram menu, or the Other Actions menu in the PivotDiagram pane, click Edit Data Graphic.
