Using Text Boxes
Text boxes, because they’re always a floating graphic, are something I recommend avoiding in Word documents to keep your work as simple as possible. However, though they can be more complicated to manage than graphics formatted to be in line with text, text boxes are also the least likely floating graphic type to cause complications in your document.
As mentioned earlier, never put a floating graphic behind or in front of a table. However, other than that limitation, if you need text to float because it needs to overlap or wrap around other content, text boxes in Word 2007 are easier than ever to use and manage.
