Creating Shapes
Relatively new to Premiere are shapes, which offer a bit more precision than giant Color Mattes. Shapes are useful as backgrounds for lower thirds, which are titles placed in the bottom-third quadrant of the screen when introducing an interviewee’s name. They also don’t clutter up the Project panel.
The Rectangle and Ellipse Tools
Start by picking either the Retangle or Ellipse tool, which are hidden underneath the Pen tool in the Toolbar.
Then, click and drag within the Program Monitor to draw your selected shape.
