Go figure. You spend hours creating a great shadow. You sweat over the minutiae. You listen to an entire CD while you fuss over the tiniest details. And when you're done, nobody notices it. Good! You've got the right shadow.

Shadows can make or break an image. Even though we don't notice them, shadows help create a sense of solidness, of physical existence. Just try this: Close your eyes and think about all the shadows that were present within your field of vision. You probably can't ...
