Everyone knows the standard File > Open command, but Fireworks offers many more methods for opening images.
You can open files created in other applications or file formats, including Photoshop, FreeHand, Illustrator, uncompressed CorelDRAW, WBMP, EPS, JPEG, GIF, and animated GIF files. Camera RAW formats are not supported by Fireworks.
Many print design houses start Web page designs in Photoshop or Illustrator because those are the applications they are most comfortable with. The ability to reliably open Photoshop PSD and Illustrator AI files makes it easy to receive designs from other professionals in these common native formats and begin the Web workflow process.
