The use of tables as a design tool has been partly supplanted by the evolving ability to design more complex, flexible, and in some ways accessible Web pages using CSS (page design with CSS in Dreamweaver CS4 is explored in “Chapter 5, Designing Pages with Absolute Placement Objects). Still, tables remain a stable, reliable, and universally supported technique for page design, and are even used in combination with CSS in page design.
