6 Motion Tracking & Compositing

So far, this book has focused on design and motion graphics. But many people use After Effects for special effects and video production. I haven’t forgotten those folks—this chapter is for them! While all previous features can be used for video (effects, masks, etc.), this chapter will focus on some video-only features. First, we’ll cover motion tracking, which makes stuff stick to your footage. Then, we’ll look at rotoscoping, the process of slicing certain elements out of video. Finally, a little bit of compositing, which is the art of realistically integrating digital effects.
