The concept of a services-oriented model in IT is not new. Information Technology Services Management (ITSM), part of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), is similar to services management and has ties to other models concerning process maturity, such as Total Quality Management (TQM), Six Sigma, Business Process Management (BPM), and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), to name a few. Additionally, these models and others also provide for capability maturity.
