Challenges and Opportunities
Ensuring safe and reliable energy sources are a critical factor in any country’s infrastructure. Geopolitical issues create huge challenges for a nation’s energy security. People issues include accessing specialized workers, creating safe work environments, and communicating with the public and other interested parties. There are also ongoing challenges with developing new technologies to develop traditional hydrocarbon sources. Some experts refer to the current state as the “new world of extreme oil” as exploration moves into riskier and more complex areas, and as we seek lower carbon solutions.
