The Role of Records and Information Management
Information and records management is crucial for research libraries as it ensures that information needed is secure and available to meet organizational obligations, while delivering services in a consistent and equitable manner and providing continuity in the event of a disaster. A good records management program must protect records from unauthorized access and meet statutory and regulatory requirements for archiving, audit, and oversight activities. This program should also provide protection and support during litigation, enable quick storage and retrieval of documents and information, and improve efficiency and productivity from an operational perspective.
