CHAPTER 8Impacts

Impacts are the reactions by people—customers, employees, and other stakeholders—to work systems, outputs, and outcomes. They are the domain of the industrial psychologists, satisfaction surveys, polls, and choices. What do I feel? What are my judgments? What are my beliefs? What am I going to do? How am I going to vote? This chapter merges the selected literature review with the background information on impacts in the Work Performance Framework (WPF) because they are so closely intertwined. It then looks at the related HR programs and key measures, followed by a discussion of future issues in HR management and research opportunities. The chapter concludes by revisiting the question, What makes a good worker?
