Viticulture raised $65,980 on Kickstarter from 942 backers in October 2012. Seven months later, Euphoria raised $309,495 from 4,765 backers. That’s a 500 percent increase. How does that happen?

The answer, I believe, is something I’ve identified in almost every project that wildly overfunds. It’s all about building community. The community you build before the project will often support you financially or on social media. The community you build during the project will invite others to join them and will elevate the quality of the product. And the community you build after the project will be your product’s biggest fans and advocates.
