If you purchase more licenses and want to change your current value, you can do
so using Host Publisher Server Administration as follows (see Figure 4-4):
1. Start Host Publisher Server Administration.
2. In the navigation area on the left, click:
Administration > License Management.
3. Type the new value, then click Set.
4.4.2 Connection Pools
Connection pools are collections of communication links to backend data
sources, such as 3270 applications or databases. When an Integration Object is
run on behalf of a client request, the Integration Object obtains an available
connection from a pool, uses it for access to the data source, then returns the
connection back to the pool for reuse by another Integration Object.
Chapter 4. Administration 75
For more information about connection pools, see Chapter 5, Connection
management on page 117.
Note: As an alternative to pooled connections, Integration Objects can also use
dedicated connections. However, dedicated connections will add extra overhead
since logon (connect) and logoff (disconnect) will be executed for each request.
Figure 4-5 Connection Pools window
Pooling of connections allows the overhead of establishing the connection to be
absorbed in its first use. Each Integration Object reusing this connection benefits
from the prior establishment of the connection and can run faster.
A connection pool and its status will not appear on this panel until at least one
connection from the pool is allocated.
