626 IBM WebSphere Host Publisher Version 3.5
19.7 Monitoring clone activity
The easiest way to monitor which clone is serving the request is by enabling the
display terminal trace option. By doing so, you will get a trace window in the Host
Publisher Server machine showing the port number used by the clone serving
the request. For information on how to set the display terminal option see 4.5.2,
Traces on page 93.
Once the display terminal trace option has been set, when you run an application
that uses a Host Integration Object, you will get a trace window showing all the
interactions between the Host Integration Object and the host application (for
example, CICS, IMS). The title bar of that window shows the port number of the
clone that is serving the request. These port numbers are allotted dynamically
when you create the clones. It will be different every time. In this scenario the
port number happened to be 8120 as shown in Figure 19-31.

Note: Running traces may create extra overhead and impact Host Publisher
throughput and performance.
19.8 Restrictions
Some restrictions applied when running Host Publisher in a cloned environment.
In this section we describe issues related to connection cleanup and using a user
list for user IDs and passwords.
