Now that we have studied the specifics of 3D vision and history, it is time to explain how to make a stereoscopic movie and explore the related possibilities and constraints. First of all, the fundamental concept of 3D filmmaking is as follows: Based on the principles of human vision, a stereoscopic film is made of two separate views shot from two different points of view. Two parameters are therefore added to the traditional film technique: the distance between these two points of view, called “interaxial,” and the angle formed by the optical axis, called “convergence.”
